Unichem Services Ltd was established in 1997 in Durban, South Africa. We began by servicing and supplying Mobil Chemical’s synthetic base stocks, esters and Mobilad range of additives to local and multi-national lube oil marketers and blenders. By 2001, Unichem Services had captured 50% of the synthetic base oil market, making its presence and reputation well known in the region. Now, with a growing customer base and pioneering service, we have made our presence felt in the marketing and distribution of specialty and fine chemicals, Group I, Group II & Group III base oils and synthetic base oils through our three principal divisions; Petroleum Chemicals, Consumer Care (Personal care, Cosmetics and Home care) and Industrial Chemicals.
With the merger of the leading oil giants, Exxon and Mobil, Unichem Services, through its affiliation with Petrochem Services Ltd in London, was awarded distribution rights to ExxonMobil Chemical’s Synthetic Division range of products. We are responsible for the distribution of synthetic base stocks under the brand names of SpectraSyn, SpectraSyn Ultra, Esterex, Synesstic and a range of speciality additives to the lube oil blenders in sub-Saharan Africa. We also have exclusive distribution rights of ExxonMobil Chemical’s PureSyn range of products for the personal care and cosmetic industry in South Africa.
Unichem House, our custom built facility strategically located in the Riverhorse Valley Business Estate in Durban, boasts extensive office and warehouse facilities to service our customers efficiently and promptly. Our facility allows us to extend our services further by offering decanting and repacking in-house, as well as increasing our product volumes and ranges in order to keep costs down so that subsequent savings may be passed onto our customers.
